 A Glance at Our School

Maryville Elementary serves students from Child Development through the fifth grade. Our student population is approximately 650.  We have 28 regular classrooms and two self-contained special education classrooms, and 2 resource classrooms.  Our motto at Maryville Elementary School is to work hand - in - hand with our community to offer the best educational program for our students.  We welcome our parents, grandparents, local businesses, and agencies to participate in school activities and programs that are offered throughout the year.  Our PTO is a great way to become involved in your child's education.  Parenting nights, Harvest Festival, and special student programs are among many of the opportunities in which parents can become involved.  We encourage parents to visit our classrooms.  Please call in advance to check on the classroom schedule for a specific day.  All visitors simply must sign-in at the office and wear a Visitor's Pass while on our campus.

Our educational program addresses the State Standards in all core subjects, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.  We also provide opportunities for our students to be served in Art, Music, and Physical Education.  A CAI Lab and Science Lab provide hands-on experiences for our students and are an extension of our curriculum.  MAPS Testing is scheduled at various times throughout the year for students in Grades 2-5 to pinpoint specific areas of strengths and weaknesses of each individual student.

We feel that contact with the home is crucial.  Daily progress reports are sent with our Kindergarten and First Grade students.  A weekly report is sent home with students in Grades 2-5.  Every 4 1/2 weeks an Interim Report is sent home to provide information on attendance, behavior, and academic progress.  Report Cards are sent at the end of each grading period.  Each month a school calendar and newsletter are sent home with students.  A homework planner includes a section with specific information regarding programs, school rules, procedures, and general information about our school.

We participate in a Universal Breakfast Program.  Students are allowed to eat breakfast at no charge and should be in the cafeterial by 7:50.  Our school day begins promptly at 8:00.  Our dismissal time for Kindergarten and First Graders begins at 2:30.  All others begin dismissing at 2:40.

We are looking forward to a great year at Maryville!
